GOLD MEDAL winners!

The Belleville Spirits U12 Girls made it 4 for 4 in tournament wins after winning the Mumba Tournament in Markham this past weekend.  They have won all of their tournaments including their own home tournament, London 86ers Tournament and the Ontario Basketball League Pool A Championship on top of this latest win.
Despite being short-handed, a bit banged up and a couple of girls playing under the weather, the girls persevered and went 4-0 on route to the Gold Medal in Markham.  A complete team effort by all 10 girls.
In Game 1, we defeated York North 34-20 with Nyomi Bertrand leading the team with 12 points followed by Katelyn White with 7.
In Game 2, we defeated Stoney Creek in a very exciting comeback victory 29-26.  Reese Rivers lead the team with 6 points including 2 clutch free throws late in the game to put us ahead.  Makennin Roach chipped in with 4 points.
In Game 3, the girls completed another exciting comeback against York South 22-18.  Rivers again led the team with a season high 13 points!
In a thrilling back and forth Gold Medal game, the girls finally won in overtime in a rematch with York North 32-30.  Roach with 12 points (including the game winner), Rivers and White with 5 points each.
The team is currently ranked 14th out of 70 club teams in the province and await their final rankings before competing in the Provincial Championships in the 1st week of April.
Coaches Rachel Clarke and Sandro Palleschi are very proud of the effort and the achievements accomplished by this awesome group of young ladies.
