Gold Medal Winners

The U12 Belleville Spirits Girls (Palleschi) went 4-0 and won their 2nd consecutive Gold Medal at the London 86ers tournament this past weekend.

The girls opened the tournament with a dominating 43-13 performance over Collingwood.  The team was led by Olivia McFaul with 11 points followed by Emery Leveque with 10 points and Katelyn White dropping another 6 points.

They followed that up with a 43-30 win over a strong London Ramblers team. Emery Leveque led with 9 points followed by 7 points from Makennin Roach and another 6 points from Nyomi Bertrand.

In the 3rd game, the girls continued their offensive attack with a 41-16 win over Sarnia. Kennedy Potts and Roach led with 9 points each, followed by 6 points from McFaul and 5 points from Leveque.

In the Gold Medal game, they combined strong defense and timely scoring to defeat North Toronto 28-21 in a very exciting game. Potts and Roach again led the team with 8 points each.

This tournament win followed the completion of their first 6 games in the Ontario Basketball League out of Toronto, Pool B, where they went 5-1 and earned a move up to the top pool for their remaining 6 games. The mid-season ranking for the team is 14th out of 64 club teams in the province and their record stands at 15-1.

Next up is 4 OBL games on Feb 9th and our final tournament in Markham March 9th, culminating with the Ontario Cup in April.

The Belleville Spirits U12 (Palleschi) girls are represented by Olivia McFaul, Avery McCoy, Makennin Roach, Katelyn White, Nyomi Bertrand, Reese Rivers, Kennedy Potts, Grace Crawford, Patyn Barnes, Rhysse Barnes, Emry Fisher and Emery Leveque.

Coaches Rachel Clarke and Sandro Palleschi continue to be proud of the effort, execution and development of all 12 girls.
